Are You a Passionate Leader?
Are you wondering if you're a Passionate Leader? Wonder no more. Passionate Leadership is a journey, not a destination.
A journey you can begin today. A journey you can continue. A journey for a life time.
So what are the components of Passionate Leadership? Let's start with Leadership. Here's the most basic definition of Leadership:
Leadership is Interaction where Influence occurs.
In fact, whether you're conscious of it or not, you practice leadership all the time. How? Through your thoughts, feelings and actions you:
Influence yourself and Influence others.
What about Passion? The Urban Dictionary provides a compelling definition of Passion.
"Passion is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind, body and soul into something as is possible."
Passion then is Energetic Enthusiasm expressed in Action.
Positivity Qualifier
It must be said that a passionate leader intentionally focuses on being a positive influence for a worthwhile purpose. One that benefits both individuals and the organization.
With these things in mind, here's my definition of a Passionate Leader.
A Passionate Leader is one who energetically focuses on actions intended to positively influence both self and others toward a common purpose, vision or desired outcome.
Does this ring true? Is anything missing? Can you think of people you'd say are Passionate Leaders?
How about you? What traits of a Passionate Leader do you embody? What traits would you like to work on?
