Celebrate Your Leadership Progress

If you're like most leaders I know, you rarely slow down. And if you do, it's only to catch your breath while gearing up for the next thing. The next challenge - the next project - the next meeting. Such an unbroken and, often times, intense pace will leave no time to pause and reflect on what needs to be celebrated.

You, dear leader, are one of the lynchpins that permits your organization to operate at maximum impact. Knowing this, I invite you to block out an hour on your calendar at least quarterly (and definitely at year end), to reflect on this question:

In what ways have I become a better leader?

Here's a great celebration activity to help identify your progress.

Passionate Leadership Celebration Activity

Using the Six Pillars of Passionate Leadership below, reflect back on the last three months (or year) and identify at least two specific examples of how you have exemplified each pillar. Resist the temptation to focus on your gaps. This is your time to celebrate what you've done well. (BTW-If you find it difficult to identify examples of your own progress, ask your team or family members.)

You can also download the PL Celebration Activity
here.

Pillar #1 - Deep Appreciation for Self and Others
You value and cherish both yourself & others and create an environment in which you all can be and do your best.

Pillar #2 - Positive Growth Mindset
You have a passion for learning and seek the gift or opportunity in every situation.

Pillar #3 Dynamic Vision Focus
You are clear on your vision and flexible on how to realize the vision.

Pillar #4 Embodied Trust
You continually demonstrate what trust looks and feels like in all your interactions.

Pillar #5 Inspired Action
You take action with a calm, clear-headed focus.

Pillar #6 Celebrated Results
You build in celebration all along the results journey, celebrating what went well and what was learned.

Leadership is a journey. Schedule time regularly to celebrate progress.

Passionate Leadership
is who you're being as you're leading.
